AHS grad Fred Bassler signs with Mercury Records

Albany High grad Fred Bassler flirted with stardom in  1956-7. The singer signed with Mercury Records and released two singles as “Fred MacKenzie” before the label dropped him.

He even appeared on the Lawrence Welk Show.
